Happy Friday, Quilters! It's the first block drive finish since we started back up. These three quilts are from the Mod Mosaic block drive we did in Jan-March this year.

At long last we have the wrap up of the Sept/Oct 2022 block drive with Scrap Bin Geese blocks! This was the last block drive before we went on our hiatus. CiL's wonderful volunteer quilters have been working very hard to get us caught up. Linda assembled and quilted the first quilt, photographed on the swing.
Pam did the assembly and quilting on this quilt. There were 6 quilts from this drive in total and you can see the others here and here. This was based on a quilt my do. Good Stitches circle did a long time ...
read moreAt long last, I think all the quilts from the Jan/Fab 2022 string blocks are done! This isn't the wrap up post, but it should be the second to last batch.
I noticed this little embroidered dragonfly hiding on one of the blocks. Little surprises like that are the best part of scrappy blocks!
All of the quilts in this post were finished by Linda on her long arm. These string blocks would never have gotten done without Linda's help!

read moreFellow Texans Nancy K. and Jenn occasionally team up to help CiL finish block drive quilts. Nancy put together these stars from the 2021 "Oh My Stars" drive and Jenn did the quilting on her long arm. I really like the layout Nancy chose.
If you look closely you can see that the quilting panto has stars and swirls in it.
Nancy also put together these Tall 9 blocks and Jenn quilted it with an organic curvy panto. Perfect colors for this time of year. With recent drop offs we are rapidly approaching 1500 quilts donated in the East Texas ...
read moreHappy Friday, Quilters! This week I have five more string quilts to show off. These were sent in during the Jan 2022 string quilt drive. All 5 of these were donated as completed tops and Linda quilted them beautifully on her long arm.
These first 2 quilts with the black sashing were sent in by Beth T. and Linda used awesome custom quilting on them.
The quilts are complimentary but beautifully different. The second quilt with the white thread has different quilted pantos in each string square.
I couldn't get pictures of everything, but I tried to get some ...
read moreWishing for Fall and admiring these fall-colored quilts! There were a couple of mornings this past week when I went out the door for work that it actually felt cool.
These tops were made by Gail and kitted up with complimentary backings and bindings to make them quick to finish. These are from the Tall 9s block drive.
Linda took it from there and did a lovely job with coordinating FMQ patterns on her long arm.
Gail actually lives very near me, and she's contributed finished tops to MANY of CiL's drives. She has meticulous piecing and great ...

These were all assembled from blocks donated during the Jan 2022 block drive. The first 5 were assembled and quilted by Linda. I got some close ups to show off the cool pantos she used.
I'm really excited because I met a local long-armer last week who wants to help us out! After talking about things she asked me to bring her the rest of the string tops I have on hand!
It was really a fortuitous meeting. After getting my haircut I decided to visit ...
read moreHappy Friday quilters! This weekend I have quilts from Linda to show you. Linda has been such a busy worker bee for the past couple years helping to finish CiL quilts.
This geese quilt was Linda's contribution to the Sept/Oct 2022 drive, she made this one entirely herself. I really like this quilting design with the loops.
This quilt is from the 2021 red, white, and blue stars drive. I recognize a lot of Mina's fabrics in there.
Linda assembled and quilted the blocks. I know that quite a few of you helped Cynthia with her red ...
read moreHappy Friday! Here are four more quilts assembled and quilted by Cynthia from our past year's block drives. Cynthia did such a good job on these while also getting her own quilting charity, Compassion Quilts, off the ground!
Cynthia talks about 3 of these in this post and the fourth one at the bottom of this post. She talks about how she chose to sort and arrange the blocks and there are also more pictures.
This next one is my personal favorite of this set because of the more saturated colors and the pops of green.

read moreCynthia is a busy lady! I addition to her own compassion quilts she found time again this year to assemble and long arm some block drive quilts for CiL.
First up, three Scrap Bin Geese quilts from last year's Sept/Oct drive. You can see more photos of these on Cynthia's blog and read about how she put them together here. I'm a sucker for simple modern quilting, so I love these straight lines.
Cynthia experimented with several different layouts for the blocks. Which do you like best, straight lines, pin wheels, or stair steps?

read moreHello quilters and happy Friday! Happy Spring! My parents are tilling their garden and I've been weed-eating around my house and cutting down last year's lantana.
Linda recently sent back a batch of quilted Tall 9s quilts along with 2 of her own quilts. This batik with the HSTs and the cool square-swirl quilting is my favorite.
I thought the star FMQ on this modern stars quilt was really cool.
I'm doing ok, not what I'd consider normal but better than I was doing earlier in the year. I think the change in the weather helps ...
read moreHello! Time to show off some of my favorite quilts we've made in a long while. These four quilts came from the blocks we made in our May/June 2022 block drive. The "Scrappy Pixel Block" was designed by Sushi.Farmer on Instagram. We made a colorful version inspired by JessicaQuilter.
I sent all the blocks that came in to Linda D. and she assembled and quilted them into four quilts. She did an awesome job of blending together all the various blocks to make cohesive quilts. I love how bright and colorful they all are!

read moreHello everyone! We're aother week closer to Thanksgiving here in the US. I'll be making a firm stance on the issue of sweet potato pie vs pumpkin. Sweet potato is clearly superior, and if you don't think so you just haven't had a good one yet! ;)
The 4 quilts in this post were assembled and quilted from block drive blocks by Pam M. I have all the blocks from last January's drive assembled into tops but haven't made backings for most of them yet.

This week I have more red, white, and blue quilts to show. These first 4 were assembled and quilted by Pam M from block from the July 2021 block drive. I hope some of you can find your blocks in these photos. I took close ups of some of the coolest ones.
